Than it was expanded through the centuries becoming a royal residence. In its grand rooms (today the Palatine Gallery) and in the Boboli Gardens this palace received visits of the most prominent figures of culture and science, important statesmen and politicians as well as celebrated artists from all over the world.
During the times when Florence was the capital of the newly established Republic of Italy, Palazzo Pitti had been a royal residence of the Savoia family. So when you enter there you naturally get an impression to be invited to the one of the greatest European courts. Two hours of pure splendor, group tours suitable also for families with children (that will be just enchanted by the gorgeous environments).
