Florence for foodies, a group tour in the very heart of the city

Delight your palate and eyes alike on this enthralling tour, exploring the charming back streets, artisan shops, and wonderful squares of Florence's most genuine local neighborhood, which even the Medici Grand Dukes chose to make home with their royal residence of Palazzo Pitti.

The tour starts in the late afternoon as an expert guide takes you to discover the tastes of our finest food traditions along with the history of this quintessential Florentine neighborhood.

After a stop to enjoy a selection of local cured meats, pecorino cheese, and crostini toasts with a nice glass of Tuscan wine, we'll come to the Oltrarno.

Here, a lovely local wine bar will welcome us with an excellent glass of Chianti, served with traditional crostoni, warm toasts topped by Tuscan cheeses and meats. Heavenly!

Then we'll come to the stone mammoth of Palazzo Pitti, sure to leave you with your mouths agape. You'll be all the more amazed when your guide tells you the history, fascinating facts, and legends of the extraordinary family that were the Medici.

And the surprises don't end there. Awaiting us is the picturesque, tree-filled square of Santo Spirito and the simple, yet extremely elegant facade of its defining church, where Michelangelo stayed as he did his early anatomical studies.

Here we will linger to delight in a selection of baked goods, such as cantuccini almond cookies, flat bread with olive oil, or rosemary bread, gems of Florentine baked good traditions, as simple as they are delicious.

And to finish up... what could be better than some excellent, genuine artisanal gelato right by the palace where tradition has it that Buontalenti, a brilliant architect, gourmet, and stage designer, created his artistic and culinary masterpiece for the Medici court: the first true ice cream in history.
