Opened in 1833 and located on the noble floor of the Medici family palace. This museum houses part of their private family painting collection in the original setting established at the end of the 18th century.
In it you can find three hundred years of Florentine history. Paintings by masters such as Botticelli, Filippo Lippi, Caravaggio, Gentileschi, Raffaello, and Titian are encased in an original frame showing, among other treasures, an original Baroque fresco cycle.
Furthermore, the ticket is also valid for:
- The Royal Appartments which preserve some of the original rooms used by the Grand Dukes and the Kings of Italy with their original setting and furniture.
- the Costume Gallery, where a selection of dresses from the 18th century to today is displayed and changed every two years.
- the Argenti Museum, where part of the Medici treasure and collection of unusual precious stones and gems from all over the world are displayed.
- Modern Art Gallery, first gallery in the world for its Macchiaioli collection it also houses precious paintings of the Unification of Italy, of Florence before the 19th century renovation works and masterpieces that spread from the 18th to mid 20th century.
