Final resting place of Tuscany Grandukes and their families, it is divided into three main areas: the crypt, the Princes’ chapel and the New Sacristy. The crypt displays part of San Lorenzo’s church treasure among which jewelry and crystal masterpieces. The Princes’ chapel is probably the vastest example of Florentine Mosaic promoted by the Medici family and completely done in hard stones coming from all over the world. Finally, the New Sacristy is a masterpiece of architecture and sculpture signed by Michelangelo. Here you can admire the famous statues of day, night, dusk and dawn that influenced many authors from the past but also from the modern times such as Mirò and Dalì.
