Florence tour to San Gimignano and Chianti, live the grand tour of Tuscany in a day!

Tour Code: RVT1

Book this marvelous day trip from Florence: a tour to San Gimignano and through the region of Chianti, immerse yourself in stunning landscapes, experience an excellent wine tasting in a typical winery (have a toast with your travel buddies with a glass of Chianti Classico!), taste a perfect traditional tuscan meal and come back to the Renaissance’s Capital.

A minivan will pick you up and leave for San Gimignano: the excursion takes you from Florence to the Chianti area, the land of the world renowned wines. This spectacular route, known as the ”Chiantigiana”, offers a view of rolling hills with vineyards and olive groves. It passes through quaint, hilltop towns like Greve in Chianti, famous for holding the oldest market in the zone (XII sec.), and for giving birth to Giovanni Da Verrazzano, the celebrated explorer.

Lunch at an organic restaurant with homemade products, awaits us: here it is possible to savor the local production of  balsamic vinegar. After enjoying the lovely landscape dotted with little villages, we will visit another farmhouse for a surprising tasting of some of the best “bottles” of the entire region. Our tour leads us to the town of San Gimignano, famous for its many towers, here we will discover the historical center and enjoy some free time to ourselves. San Gimignano is also called “The Medieval Manhattan”.

Back in Florence, we will join a guided tour that will explore the history, its influence and power, of the Medici family. Are you ready to enter the exceptionally beautiful “Palazzo Vecchio”? It’s the symbol of the political life in Florence.

The guided visit includes a tour of the fascinating Salone dei Cinquecento designed by Giorgio Vasari for the Grand Duke Cosimo I, the rooms dedicated to the Medici Pope Leo X, the room of the Elements, Eleonora’s apartments, and the numerous areas decorated with the masterpieces of artists such as Michelangelo, Donatello, and Verrocchio. The tour ends in Piazza della Signoria at about 5 o’clock.
