Description:
What comes to your mind when you hear the name of Michelangelo? Maybe you will think of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, the David, or the Pietà? Michelangelo is often mentioned in the company of other great Renaissance masters, such as Leonardo da Vinci or Raphael. One thing is certain – Michelangelo is one of the greatest artists ever living and his name is famous all over the world!
As a Tuscan sculptor, architect, and painter Michelangelo lived, worked, and created some of his major masterpieces in Florence.
During this tour we will immerse ourselves into the marvellous world of Michelangelo, experience some of his greatest works of art, and unveil the secrets of this Renaissance genius.
Follow the footprints of Michelangelo from his first years of apprenticeship, when he was living in the Palazzo Medici at the court of Lorenzo the Magnificent and practising his studies of anatomy in Santo Spirito. After the David, a masterpiece carved out of a spoiled block of marble, the artist was going to prove once again his genius designing and producing the statues and architecture of the New Sacristy, the burial chapel of the Medici family in San Lorenzo.
Your experienced guide from Florence and Tuscany Tours will stay with you during the tour. Since our guides are also local residents here in Florence, they are all very happy to provide you with personal suggestions, tips, and any advice that will help you to get the most out of your stay in this beautiful city.
