OUR ESCURSIONS IN TUSCANY

E 1-SAN GIMIGNANO, SIENA & CHIANTI in one day

Siena, San Gimignano and Chianti maintain a mediaeval atmosphere that reminds the visitor of the moments of these cities’ maximum splendour. Nowadays these cities are must-see locations for the discerning visitor who wishes to experience their unspoilt beauty.
Declared by Unesco to be a world heritage site, San Gimignano is also known as the “the city of a thousand towers”: here you can still admire 14 mediaeval towers, once a symbol of the power and wealth of their inhabitants, which survive to this day.
The excursion continues with a visit to Siena where you will be enchanted by the splendid Cathedral built in a Romanesque/Gothic style (admission included) and by the Palazzo Comunale (town hall). This palace is situated in the picturesque Piazza del Campo, in which the famous Palio takes place every year. Lunch break.
In the afternoon we continue through the area of the Chianti Classico. You will have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful vistas into the surrounding landscape from the streets and piazzas of this settlement, which has remained virtually the same over centuries. We conclude our tour with a visit to a renowned vineyard, reviewed in the best, specialised journals, with a snack consisting of salamis, cheeses, and different kinds of bruschetta accompanied by a selection of high-quality wines.

E 8 - Our trip to the CINQUE TERRE

Dedicate an entire day to the discovery of an unspoilt landscape of extraordinary beauty: The Cinque Terre. These five villages rest on top of high cliffs overlooking small harbours and, surrounded by hills and vineyards, seem to be suspended between earth and sea. We shall visit these mediaeval settlements: Portovenere, located at the end of a promontory, Monterosso, where you will have free time for a delicious lunch of fresh fish in one of the typical local restaurants or to go for a swim in the irresistibly clear water, and Vernazza, a maritime city situated around a small natural harbour.
You will have the opportunity to go for a stroll around the harbour or to take a rest while enjoying coffee or ice cream in one of the main squares and observing the local fishermen at their work.
The boat will take us from Portovenere to Vernazza and continues to Monterosso. The tour continues by a characteristic local train that takes us to Manarola.
From here, walking on the “Lovers’ Walk” we will reach Riomaggiore to end the tour in La Spezia, where the bus is
waiting to take us back to Florence.
